Iraq Oil Issues Between Baghdad, Kurdish Administration

The stop in oil exports from northern Iraq to Turkey “is something that originates entirely in a problem between the central administration and northern Iraq,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the NATO summit.

  • “Our position is already to open the oil pipelines the moment they overcome it,” Erdogan said.
  • This contradicts reports from Iraq’s Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani from 7 July who stated that Northern Iraqi crude oil flows to the Turkish port of Ceyhan remain halted because of pipeline damages following the earthquakes in Turkey earlier this year.
