Iraqi Officials Meet Kurdish Reps for Pipeline Restart Talks

Iraqi government officials met representatives of the Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan (APIKUR) Nov. 8 to discuss the restart of pipeline export flows to Turkey, according to Reuters.

  • "This meeting was an initial step...we anticipate future meetings with all stakeholders," said Myles Caggins, an APIKUR spokesperson in a statement to Reuters.
  • Both parties emphasized the importance of returning to full operations quickly under mutually acceptable terms.
  • Turkey shut the pipeline which flows to Ceyhan following an arbitration ruling in March ordering Turkey to pay damages to Iraq due to unauthorised exports in previous years.
  • The pipeline has a capacity of 400k-500k b/d
