ISRAEL: Biden Expected To Meet Netanyahu At UNGA In New York

US

Nahal Toosi as Politico has reported that US President Joe Biden may meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu next week on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

  • Toosi: "From a schedule I’ve obtained, it seems if Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu will soon meet with President Joe Biden, it’ll have to be in New York on sidelines of the UN General Assembly next week. There’s nothing set yet, but the agenda also doesn’t put Netanyahu in DC."
  • The Jerusalem Post reports that Netanyahu is, "slated to visit San Francisco and New York from September 18 to 24, so he can address the United Nations," but the Prime Minister's office declined to provide additional information about any bilateral engagements.
  • Biden has yet to meet Netanyahu since the later assumed office in January this year, widely taken as an uncharacteristic rebuke for actions taken by Netanyahu's conservative government and judicial reform programme.
  • The White House is working to conclude a deal to normalise relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia before the 2024 US presidential election.
