MIDEAST: ISRAEL: President Rivlin has requested the Knesset to nominate a new PM
following the failure of the two largest groups in parliament to conclude a
power-sharing deal.
- The Knesset now has 3 weeks to nominate a new PM, or another snap election
will be called. This would represent the 4th general election in just over a

- Caretaker PM Benjamin Netanyahu and main opposition leader and PM-designate
Benny Gantz failed to come to an agreement on forming an 'emergency' gov't,
intended to govern the country during the COVID-19 crisis.
- Netanyahu currently has the support of 59 of the 120 Knesset members, putting
him within touching distance of the majority required to form a gov't.
