Italian PPA Demand Steadily Rises This Year

POWER

PPA demand in Italy is rising this year amid possible delays in the country’s Fer X renewables legislation, Dario Gallanti, partner at Spanish PPA consultancy Our New Energy, told Montel.

  • “Interest in Italian PPAs is on the rise,” Gallanti said.
  • “More and more renewables operators are looking at alternatives to cover delays in the Fer X legislation,” Gallanti added.
  • PPAs are used as a mitigant for possible delays of the expected Fer X legislation, with auction for the 60GW renewable capacity between 2024-2028 likely delayed until next year, from autumn this year previously anticipated, he added.
  • This is despite PPAs are currently being prices at just above €60/MWh, compared with Fer X auction prices starting at €85/MWh, analysts told Montel.
