Italy Approves Energy Aid Package

ENERGY

Italy has today approved a new aid package of support for energy intensive companies.

  • From October companies will be able to access tax credits ranging from 25% to 40% based on their energy requirements. Italy will offer state guarantees on loans to help companies facing liquidity problems due to the energy crisis. The aid package for households and businesses is worth about €14bn.
  • The measures include an extension of the existing credit system until the end of September and an extension to a cut in fuel pump taxes from Oct 17 into November.
