US CPI rose 0.1% in January (+0.145% unrounded), slightly below 
expectations for a 0.2% increase. Energy prices fell -0.7%, with 
gasoline prices declining -1.6%. Excluding energy, January CPI would 
have been up 0.2%. Food prices rose 0.2% and the food away from home 
category increased 0.4%. Core CPI increased 0.2% in January (+0.242% 
unrounded), driven by shelter (+0.4%), medical care (+0.2%) and apparel 
(+0.7%) prices. Offsetting that, prices of used cars and trucks declined 
-1.2% in January and prescription drug prices fell by -0.4%.
