Weekly international security flow data out of Japan revealed net sales of foreign bonds on the part of Japanese investors topped the Y1tn mark for the first time since August, registering the largest weekly round of net sales seen since April in the process. Japanese investors also broke a 4-week streak of net sales of foreign equities, although the net purchase amount was rather paltry.
- On the other side of the ledger, foreign investors were net sellers of Japanese bonds, which came after 3 straight weeks of net purchases (although the selling that emerged was relatively insignificant when compared to the cumulative level of net purchases registered over the 3 previous weeks), while they lodged a second consecutive week of net sales when it came to foreign equities.
