JAPAN: Japanese investors reverted to net buying of foreign bonds (~Y869bn) in
the most recent week, although the 4-week rolling sum of the metric moderated as
a large week of net buying dropped out of the sample period. Nonetheless, this
represented the 17th round of net weekly purchases in the most recent 20 weeks.
- Elsewhere, Japanese investors also reverted to net buying of foreign stocks
(~Y321bn), which allowed the 4-week rolling sum of the metric to edge higher.
- Foreign investors were net buyers of Japanese bonds in the most recent week
(~Y400bn) in the wake of last week's record net selling (~Y3.149tn). They
remained net sellers of Japanese equities (~Y221bn) for a 5th consecutive week,
pushing the 4-week rolling sum of the measure deeper into negative territory.
