Jet Fuel Demand to Climb as Summer Build-Up Starts: BNEF

JET FUEL

Global passenger jet fuel demand is set to rise from 6.3m b/d in March to 6.9m b/d in May, amid a build-up to the peak summer travel season, according to BNEF.

  • Around 76% of the consumption will be from Asia, North America, and Western Europe.
  • The expected increase is in-line with seasonal norms.
  • The post-pandemic growth momentum is now abating. Average annual growth in global passenger jet fuel demand in the period March-May is seen at 11%, well below the 31% seen over the same period in 2023, and the 48% in 2022.
  • BNEF forecasts that fuel demand from international flights in China will average 0.14m b/d in March-May, 74k-92k b/d above the same period in 2023.
