JPY: Outperforming Amid Lower US Equity Futures, Downtick In US Yields

JPY

Yen is outperforming in the G10 space, with softer US equity futures and a down tick in US yields helping sentiment at the margins. USD/JPY was last near 143.00, not too far from intra-session lows on Thursday of 142.85. Nasdaq futures are off 0.40%, although away from session lows. The regional equity tone is mixed, although Japan, HK and China markets are all down.

  • AUD/USD and NZD/USD are both off by between 0.10-0.15%, leaving yen gains against these currencies close to 0.50%. AUD/JPY was last near 96.25, still up from Thursday lows. NZD/JPY was under 89.00, also a touch above recent lows.
  • These moves come ahead of the key payrolls print in the US later.
