Kazakhstan Denies Russia Request For Fuel Reserve Over Drone Strike: BBC

The Kazakh Energy Ministry has denied reports that Russia asked the country to provide an emergency reserve of gasoline, according to the BBC.

  • "We have not received such a request from the Russian Energy Ministry so far. Therefore, we are not confirming the information," the report quoted Shyngys Ilyasov, an advisor to the Kazakh energy minister, told Kazakh Baigenews.Kz.
  • This followed a story by Reuters that Russia is looking for an emergency reserve of 100k mt of gasoline from Kazakhstan.
  • Reuters’ sources said that the deal had already been agreed.
  • Around 14% of Russia’s refining capacity has been idled due to Ukrainian drone strikes, and the Moscow had implemented a ban on gasoline exports to non-Eurasian-economic-Union countries from March 1-Aug. 31.
