Kazakhstan Energy Overview After Prior Power Cut

Atyrau Oil Refinery, Kazakhstan, has resumed operations following a power failure at the Mangystau Nuclear Power Plant at the start of the week according to an official press release.

  • All technological units at the plant have been brought up to regular operation, with the exception of the delayed coking unit (DCU), where measures are underway to clean equipment that has been clogged owing to the emergency shutdown.
  • Regarding the CPC pipeline “The equipment of the CPC facilities is intact, at present all oil pumping stations are operating normally," the consortium said.
  • The group said yesterday - "There were no restrictions on the acceptance of oil from suppliers, all the volumes proposed by shippers were accepted for delivery."
  • Kazakhstan oil production was at 238,600 tons on Thursday vs 223,700 tons on Wednesday, 200,100 tons on Tuesday, 218,900 tons on Monday and 252,600 tons on Sunday (before production was hit).
