OIL PRODUCTS

Kazakhstan plans to extend restrictions on diesel, gasoline and specific petroleum products by another six months starting 14 February 2024, a draft document by the Energy Ministry showed.

  • "The proposal is to impose a six-month ban on the road export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and specific petroleum products," according to the draft document.
  • The ban excludes lubricating oils, fuels and lubricants exported in gas tanks, as well as aviation fuel for research, the ministry said.
  • The country introduced a ban on road fuels in January 2021 and has since then been regularly extended with the most recent extension in August. In February 2023, the ban was intensified, covering the export of certain petroleum products by all means of transport for four months.
