OIL

Kazakhstan intends to supply 100,000t of oil to Germany in August through the Druzhba pipeline, according to Interfax.

  • Kazakhstan had transported around 290,000t to Germany as of early July, with the first batch arriving in February, according to KazTransOil.
  • Russia’s Transneft has a quota to ship 1.2mn tons of Kazakh oil to Germany this year, following a deal between the two countries to boost supplies for the Schwedt refinery. This has allowed the refinery to run at 70% rather than 60%.
  • There is an agreement to extend the deal until 2024, people familiar with the matter said.
  • Crude deliveries via Poland and the western part of the Druzhba pipeline are currently restricted, after a leak was detected at one of the lines in Poland that pump crude west to Germany. Pumping is expected to resume on Tuesday, Polish pipeline operator PERN said.
