Large Earthquake Reported 60km SE Of Taipei

Reports emerging of a large earthquake striking just off the coast of Taiwan.

  • Quake struck off the cost near to the city of Yilan, with the epicentre 60km south east of the Taiwanese capital Taipei.
  • Magnitude between 5.9 and 6.9 according to initial social media reports.
  • Not clear whether the quake has caused significant damage, no reports of a tsunami as yet given the quake's centre off of the coast.
