LATAM: Week Ahead: Focus On BCCh Rate Decision, Brazil Economic Activity
LATAM
- Attention next week will be on the BCCh monetary policy meeting on Thursday, when another 25bp cut in the policy rate is widely expected. On the data front, Brazil will publish latest economic activity figures on Monday, followed by Peru economic activity on Tuesday and Colombia activity data on Friday.
- The BCB will publish its weekly Focus survey on Monday, while the BCCh will release its traders survey, ahead of the MPC meeting later in the week. Meanwhile, Brazil economic activity for August will cross, alongside latest Mexico consumer confidence figures.
- On Tuesday, Peru economic activity is expected to moderate to 3.4% y/y in August, from 4.5%, while Colombia IP and retail sales numbers for August are due.
- Argentina will release budget balance data for September on Wednesday, while BanRep will publish its latest economist survey, including interest rate forecasts for the upcoming Oct 31 MPC meeting.
- Focus will be on the BCCh on Thursday, when the central bank is expected to deliver another 25bp cut to 5.25%, following weaker-than-expected September CPI data. Last month, the BCCh said it would reduce the policy rate to its neutral level at a faster pace than previously thought.
- Colombia August economic activity and Argentina September trade data will then wrap up the week on Friday.
