Latest Savanta/ComRes Poll Puts Conservatives 4pts Ahead

UK

Following a series of poor opinion polls for Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservatives, the latest poll from Savanta/ComRes shows the PM's party up 4pts on Labour.

  • CON: 40% (-), LAB: 36% (-4), LDEM: 8% (+1), GRN: 5% (+1) via SavantaComRes, 06 - 09 Nov, Chgs. w/ 02 Nov
  • Comes after YouGov poll for The Times that garnered significant attention last week, which showed Labour 5% ahead of the Conservatives, 40% to 35%.
  • Rebound for the Conservatives comes despite England entering a second COVID-19 lockdown on Nov 5, and a high-profile spat between the gov't and England and Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford over the issue of free meals being provided for schoolchildren outside of term time.
  • Over the course of November so far, the Conservatives have led in two polls, Labour in two, and one has been a tie.
  • Reminder that PMQ's takes place at 1200GMT (1300CET, 0700ET). Main focus likely to be on COVID-19 England-wide lockdown, which PM had frequently said was not necessary and that local lockdowns were sufficient to control the virus, only for gov't to U-turn.
