Legislators To Review Impeachment Accusation Against Housing Minister

  • On Tuesday, Chile reported a stronger than expected economic activity (Imacec) figure which may have dampened expectations of the BCCh accelerating the easing pace further.
  • Itaú noted that with activity dynamics continuing to surprise favourably, they view even lower odds of a greater than 75-bp cut by the BCCh later this month. In similar vein, Goldman Sachs expect the downward adjustment of the economy to be mostly behind us and, going forward, they anticipate growth to continue. Growth, however, should remain below potential due to headwinds from a still restrictive monetary stance and renewed domestic policy uncertainty.
  • In local news, Chile’s legislators will review an impeachment accusation against Housing Minister Carlos Montes. Elsewhere, Mining Minister Aurora Williams speaks at Mining and Energy Lower House Commission on Enami’s plans to halt its Paipote copper smelter.
