Libya Fully Halts Sharara Oil Field

Libya’s Sharara oil field, the country’s second-largest oil field, fully halted output following protests, sources told Bloomberg.

  • The Sharara deposit in the southwest of the country started gradual to halt output late Thursday and was fully stopped overnight. Before disruptions, the field pumped 250-260kbpd.
  • Protest began at the nearby El-Feel oil field earlier on Thursday. The field has a capacity of 70kbpd.
  • The protestors released a video statement from the 108 oil field. It remains uncertain whether output at the field has been affected by protests.
  • Libya’s crude production stood around 1.15mbpd in recent month.
