LNG at Sea for 20 Days Surges to Highest Since November

The total estimated quantity of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 20 days rose again by 16% last week to the highest since November to 4.67m tons as of June 16, according to Bloomberg estimates.

  • Volumes at sea are well above the normal seasonal range amid muted European LNG demand and ongoing vessel diversions. The five-year seasonal average volume is 2.31m tons.
  • The estimated volume of LNG on tankers that have not unloaded for at least 30 days was also higher on the week at 1.79m tons compared to 1.65m tons a week earlier.
