LNG: China July LNG Imports Near Record High from 2021

China's LNG imports in July were marginally lower year on year but approximately in line with both last year and the previous record high from 2021, according to ICIS.

  • China imports rose 3.4% m/m to 6.1m tonnes but were just 1.6% lower y/y.
  • The Asian share of global LNG imports rose to 60% in July and the highest since Jan 2022. Europe’s share fell 3 percentage points to the lowest since September 2021 at 17%.
