LNG: Germany's Mukran LNG Recieves First Cargo Since May

LNG

Germany's Mukran LNG terminal appears to have entered normal service with the arrival of its first cargo since May, according to ICIS.

  • The arrival is the first since the port was set up with two FSRUs, the Energos Power and the Neptune.
  • Mukran now has two FSRU after facilities were reshuffled in June and July. The Neptune FSRU, which used to be at Lubmin, has now join the Energos Power at the port.
  • The Energos Power received a cargo each month from March to May for test send-outs into the onshore gas pipeline network.
  • The costs of using new FSRU-based facilities can be more expensive than some of Europe's older, onshore terminals, sources told ICIS.
  • German terminals could be busy if demand rises due to a cold winter, but operators may need to cut tariffs to incentivize greater long-term use if the winter is mild.
