LNG: Global LNG Demand Fell 5% w/w to Oct. 13 but Supply Rose 5%: BNEF

Global LNG demand fell 5% in the week to Oct. 13 to 7.37m metric tons with a decline in Southern Asia, Europe and the Americas only partly offset by a rebound in the JKCT region imports, according to BNEF.

  • Mainland China boosted imports by 0.75m tons following the Golden Week national holiday but imports to Thailand fell 0.31m tons, India dropped 0.14m tons and Brazil fell 0.2m tons.
  • Deliveries into NW Europe and Italy fell 0.29m tons and other Europe fell 0.22m tons. led by the Netherlands and France.
  • Deliveries from Oct. 1- 13 into South Korea are up 23% y/y and to mainland China up 6% y/y.
  • Global LNG supply rose by 5% from the previous week to 7.98m tons with a 0.15m tons recovery from Qatar and 0.09m tons increase from the US offsetting a 0.15m tons decline from Malaysia. Malaysia exports fell as two production trains at Bintulu LNG were offline, likely to be trains 7 & 8, Reuters sources said.
