LNG: Global LNG Demand Rose 6% in Week to Aug 18: BNEF

Global LNG demand rose 6% in the week to Aug 18 to 7.48m metric tons with a rebound in supplies to Europe and increase to South Asia while North Asia remained largely flat to the previous week, according to BNEF.

  • LNG deliveries into Northwest Europe and Italy rebounded by 0.24m tons w/w from the lowest since 2022 the previous week.
  • Imports to Japan rose 0.15m tons and to India increased 0.38m tons on the week to more than offset a 0.12m tons decline in supply to Taiwan. South Korea’s imports remained strong amid heatwaves.
  • Global LNG supply rose 1% from the previous week to 7.69m tons with an increase in output from Russia of 0.19m tons and Australia of 0.18m tons to offset a drop of 0.1m tons from Malaysia in the week.
