LNG: Gradual Increase in LNG Panama Canal Crossings: ICIS

LNG

LNG tanker crossings through the Panama Canal have increased in recent months, but remain below high levels seen last year, according to ICIS.

  • The numbers of crossings dropped significantly late last year and early this year due to drought conditions which led to a reduction in the available transit slots. The situation has been gradually improving this year.
  • US cargoes to destinations in East Asia, such as China, Japan and South Korea, account for most of the laden tankers from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
