LNG Prices to Remain Elevated at $12 to $14/mmbtu This Year: Bernstein

LNG

LNG prices are expected to remain at elevated levels in a range of $12 to $14/mmbtu this year until new supply at the end of the year according to note from Sanford C Bernstein.

  • The market has been kept finely balanced by strong inventories, weaker industrial demand and favourable weather despite little new supply.
  • “LNG markets remain tight, although a gas crisis this winter seems to have been averted,” the note said.
  • “With little spare capacity, LNG markets remain on a knife-edge until the new wave of LNG supply arrives, which will likely be towards the end of this year.”
  • LNG projects from North America and Qatar will ramp up supply to the market from 2025 to 2027 and pave the way for spot prices to fall to $8 to $9/mmbtu over the next three years.
