LNG: Summit FSRU Restart Delayed for Several More Weeks

LNG

The restart of Bangladesh's Summit LNG FSRU could be delayed for several more weeks after damage to an underwater gas transmission pipeline was uncovered, according to Rafiqul Islam at Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Co. cited by S&P Global.

  • The facility was previously expected to restart around Aug. 8 with bad weather in the Bay of Bengal and the county's political turmoil adding to delays, a senior Petrobangla official said.
  • Summit is yet to announce the new date for resuming LNG regasification and any spot LNG tenders are unlikely until the FSRU comes online.
  • Spot cargoes have been delayed or deferred since the FSRU underwent repairs in Singapore in July following cyclone damage in late May.
