LNG: US LNG Exports Rose 10.4% m/m in August: Kpler

US LNG exports in August rose 10.4% from July and 5% higher than August 2023 at 7.35 mt, according to Kpler.

  • Growth was largely driven by a 1.5x surge in shipments from Freeport LNG, following the resumption from a shutdown due to Hurricane Beryl.
  • January to August LNG exports were up 2.5% y/y to 56.87 mt
  • Europe remained the top destination with a 50% share of shipments, followed by Asia at 37.4% and with the remainder shipped to the Americas and Africa.
  • The US continues to maintain the position as the largest global exporter ahead of both Australia and Qatar.
