LNG: Vietnam's Second LNG Terminal Seeks Commissioning Cargo for October

Vietnam's 3mtpa Cai Mep LNG terminal is seeking a commissioning cargo for delivery in October to November, according to Reuters sources.

  • "Given we have just received the import licence, we are now working on accelerating the commissioning and target to complete in the next three months," said AG&P LNG CEO Karthik Sathyamoorthy.
  • The facility will be the second terminal as the country aims to reliance on coal.
  • Vietnam plans include LNG import terminals and 13 LNG-fired power plants to account for 15% of power generation capacity by 2030.
  • Vietnam’s first LNG import terminal has so far imported over 300k tons of LNG on a spot basis.
