Lula To Discuss Petrobras With Ministers Today

  • President Lula postponed a meeting with ministers scheduled for Sunday to discuss Petrobras, after details of the meeting were leaked. The meeting has instead been rearranged for 2200BST (1700ET) today according to Estadao. Finance Minister Haddad, Chief of Staff Rui Costa, Mines and Energy Minister Alexandre Silveira and government Communications Secretary Paulo Pimenta would also attend the meeting. The meeting follows reports last week that the government would consider whether CEO Prates will remain in his position as head of Petrobras.
  • On the political front, Finance Minister Haddad is also due to attend the Rumos 2024 seminar, hosted by Valor Economico in Sao Paulo at 1300BST (0800ET) today.
  • Data wise, IPC-S inflation data will be published at 1200BST, followed by vehicles production figures at 1400BST and weekly trade balance data at 1900BST. Later this week, the focus will be on March IPCA inflation data which will be published on Wednesday, with analysts expecting the annual rate of inflation to slow to 4.0% y/y, from 4.5%.
