May Manufacturing PMI, April Remittances, Banxico Economist Survey Due

  • As noted, Claudia Sheinbaum, from the ruling Morena party, has been elected as the country’s new president by a margin of at least 30 percentage points, according to the nation’s electoral authority. Focus now turns to whether Morena has won enough votes to secure a supermajority in the Chamber of Deputies as well as the Senate, the prospect for which is weighing on Mexican assets Monday.
  • On the data front, May manufacturing PMI data are due at 1600BST(1100ET), alongside April remittances figures. Analysts expect remittances to come in at $5.2bn, vs. $5.02bn in March. Banxico will also publish its latest economist survey at 1600BST, while May IMEF manufacturing and non-manufacturing figures are due at 1900BST.
