McCarthy Fails To Flips Any Rebel Votes In Fourth Speaker Ballot

US

Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has failed to convince any of the 20 Republicans who opposed him in the third ballot to change their votes in the just-concluded fourth round of voting.

  • Results (218 votes required to win): Rep Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) - 212 Rep Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) - 201 Byron Donalds (R-FL) - 20 Present - 1.
  • The only notable change in the voting dynamics was Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) changing her vote from McCarthy to present. • Democrats again voted uniformly for Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
