MEXICO: August Leading Indicators Due, Sheinbaum Press Conference

  • USDMXN is trading in a relatively tight range around 19.45 so far on Thursday, ahead of President Sheinbaum’s latest press conference at 1400BST(0900ET), following her visit to Acapulco yesterday assessing damage caused by Hurricane John. USDMXN has recently found support but, for now, continues to trade below the August and September highs. The Sep 11 - 18 bear leg is considered corrective with next key support to watch at 19.2324, the 50-day EMA.
  • On the data front today, the calendar is light today, with just the leading indictors for August due at 1300BST(0800ET). Tomorrow, August unemployment figures are expected, before attention turns to September CPI data and the Banxico minutes next week.
