Minister Gungubele Says ANC Caucus Agreed To Reject Section 89 Panel Report

Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele said that African National Congress lawmakers agreed to reject the Section 89 panel report in today's vote in parliament. The ruling party's caucus convened this morning to prepare for the debate.

  • "The ANC caucus will support the decision of the National Executive Committee and reject the report. Our lawmakers will reject the adoption of the report," newswires cited Gungubele as saying.
  • Local media outlets had earlier suggested that the caucus meeting was "heated and tense," with two Cabinet ministers calling threats to discipline dissenting ANC MPs "unconstitutional."
