MNI BRIEF: BOJ Kuroda: No Plans To Amend ETF Framework

TOKYO (MNI)

The Bank of Japan has no plans to change the framework for purchases of ETFs nor to sell current holdings, Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said Thursday

Kuroda earlier told lawmakers, "ETF purchases are a pillar of the current easy policy framework", adding that they are not stock market manipulation measures, but are aimed at lowering risk premia in stock markets and preventing confidence from worsening, although he accepted they have helped stabilize market volatility.

The BOJ is currently buying ETFs at a pace with an annual upper limit of about JPY12 trillion.
