MNI BRIEF: BOK Vigilant About US Election Impact; Ready To Act

TOKYO (MNI)

Bank of Korea officials are vigilant about the impact of the U.S. presidential election on global financial markets and the bank is ready to take action to maintain stability, wowkorea reported on Monday.

BOK chairman Lee Juyeol told senior officials that the bank needs to prepare for the contingency, the report said, adding that he also warned of greater market volatility globally in the wake of the election result and amid concerns over the spread of the coronavirus in Europe.

The BOK will hold a meeting on Wednesday to examine global market reaction to the election and its impact on the domestic economy and financial markets, especially on the foreign exchange rate.
