MNI BRIEF: Canada Jan Auto Sales Fall the Most Since May

(MNI)

Canadian automobile sales fell 17.4% in January, the fastest pace since May during the spring Covid-19 lockdown, DesRosiers auto consultants figures showed Wednesday, some early evidence of the challenges of the second wave.

The decline was linked to health restrictions and supply chain disruptions, managing partner Andrew King wrote in a report. The second wave still appears much less damaging than the first -- sales plunged more than 40% in May and more than 70% in April.
