MNI BRIEF: China To Optimise Covid Controls - Politburo

China will optimise Covid control measures, coordinate policy support and boost domestic demand to improve growth in 2023, according to a report of the latest Politburo meeting by Xinhua News Agency on Wednesday.

Policymakers will focus on stabilising economic growth, employment and prices, while proactive fiscal policy should be strengthened and its effectiveness improved, and prudent monetary policy should be precise, noted the meeting chaired by President Xi Jinping on Tuesday. Policymakers will promote coordination between pandemic prevention and economic and social development.

China will ensure the resilience and security of its industrial supply chains, align efforts to boost domestic demand and supply side reform, continue to attract foreign investors, and prevent big economic and financial risks, it said. The annual Central Economic Working Conference is expected to be held next week, MNI understands.
