MNI BRIEF: London House Prices Hit Record High In September

The UK housing market continues to push higher, undimmed for now at least by the Covid-19 fallout, with average prices in the capital hitting all-time highs in cash terms. The average house price increased by 4.7% over the year to September, up from 3.0% in August 2020, to stand at a record high of £245,000, the Office for National Statistics said Wednesday.
In cash terms, average house prices rose £262,000 (4.9%) y/y in England, with Northern Ireland lagging as prices rose to £143,000 (2.4%). Average prices in London rose to a record high of £496,000 in September, the stats agency said.
