U.S. weekly jobless claims rose 45,000 in the latest week to 770,000, a sign the labor market remains strained despite recent improvement in the economy.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell signaled on Wedensday that, as MNI had reported earlier, he does not intend to further discuss any possible reductions in bond buys until there's much greater progress on jobs.
