MNI DATA BRIEF: Eurozone Unemployment Lower in July

LONDON (MNI)

Unemployment in the eurozone fell to 7.6% in July from an upwardly revised 7.8% in June, significantly below the 8.4% touched in July of 2020, underlining the ECB's view on an economy continuing to recover.

Jobless roles decreased by 350,000 between June and July and by 1.521 million over July of 2020. Youth unemployment retreated to 16.5% from 17.2% in June.

The ECB continues to focus on the economic recovery. Earlier Wednesday, Executive Board member Luis de Guindos said the eurozone would recover to its pre-pandemic level around the turn of the year.
