TOKYO (MNI)

Japan's consumer confidence index rose for the third straight month in November with consumers more optimistic on three of the four key sentiment sectors, the latest Consumer Confidence Survey published by the Cabinet Office showed on Wednesday.

The consumer confidence index rose to 33.7 from 33.6 in October. Consumers were more optimistic on overall economic well-being, income conditions and the willingness to buy durable goods.

The Cabinet Office retained its assessment from the previous month, noting that consumer sentiment remained severe but the recovery continues.

The share of respondents projecting consumer price gains fell to 68.4% in November after declining 0.4 point to 72.4% in October. The share of respondents forecasting lower prices stood at 9.7% in November, up 0.9 point from 8.8% in October.
