LONDON (MNI) - No rest for the troops heading into the weekend, as Friday
throws up a busy calendar on both sides of the Atlantic.
The European data calendar gets underway at 0645GMT, with the publication
of the French final GDP data. At the same time, ECB Supervisory Board member
Pentti Hakkarainen participates in session 1 at 2nd ESRB annual conference, in
Frankfurt.
The euro area flash manufacturing and services PMI data will be published
from 0700GMT, when the French numbers cross the wire. German data is expected at
0730GMT, with the eurozone data at 0800GMT.
At 0715GMT, ECB Executive Board member Benoit Coeure will give a keynote
statement, before ECB President Mario Draghi gives a keynote speech at 0800GMT.
The only scheduled UK data comes at 1000GMT, when the CBI Industrial Trends
data is released.
San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank President John Williams speaks at the
Swiss National Bank in Zurich, Switzerland, with media Q&A, starting at 1000GMT.
Across the Atalntic, the data calendar gets underway at 1230GMT, with the
release of the Canadian CPI data and the Canadian Retail Trade numbers.
Back in Europe, at 1300GMT, the BNB Business Sentiment will cross the
wires.
UK PM Theresa May is expected to deliver her Brexit speech at around
1315GMT in Florence, Italy. There are expectations there will be a quick
response from EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier.
Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank President Esther George will deliver the
keynote at the "Global Oil Supply & Demand: Prospects for Greater Balance"
Conference in Oklahoma City, with audience Q&A, starting at 1330GMT.
The US Markit Manufacturing and services PMI data will be published at
1345GMT, with the Atlanta Fed inflation index expected at 1400GMT.
BOE Chief Economist Andy Haldane will give a speech in Washington DC,
starting at 1430GMT.
The St. Louis Fed Real GDP Nowcast will be published at 1500GMT, with the
NY Fed GDP Nowcast expected at 1515GMT.
