LONDON (MNI) - It is a busy European data calendar on Thursday, but volumes
are expected to be thin during the session due to the Thanksgiving market
holiday in the US.
The European economic docket kicks off at 0700GMT with final German GDP
figures.
At 0745GMT a raft of French data hits the wires, Services Sentiment,
Manufacturing Sentiment and Business Climate Indicator will all be published.
Another French release on the schedule for 0800GMT, preliminary Markit
Manufacturing and Services PMI.
Also at 0800GMT Bundesbank Board member Claudia Buch will deliver a speech
at 7th Annual ECMI Conference, in Brussels.
ECB Executive Board member Peter Praet will participate at the Annual
Economics Conference organised by the EIB and SUERF, in Luxembourg, at 0820GMT.
At 0830GMT preliminary German preliminary Markit Manufacturing and Services
PMI figures are on the schedule.
At 0900GMT preliminary Markit Manufacturing and Services PMI figures for
the broader Eurozone will be published.
The first UK release of the day comes at 0930GMT, markets will digest the
second estimate of UK GDP and Index of Services data will be published.
UK third quarter growth came in better than expected when published last
month, posting 0.1pp higher than the market's 0.3% q/q consensus expectation,
and on Thursday we will be given the updated, expenditure breakdown of the
numbers.
Chances of any meaningful revisions have been judged as minimal, with
analysts unanimous in expecting no change to the preliminary figures published
last month. That is, for growth of 0.4% q/q and 1.5% y/y.
Bundesbank Board member Carl-Ludwig Thiele gives a speech at the 21th
academic colloquium of the institute for Banking and Financial History, in
Frankfurt at 1015GMT.
At 1100GMT UK CBI Distributive Trades will be released.
Over in North America though the US is closed Canada will still release
data, Canadian Retail Trade are on the docket at 1330GMT.
The Belgian BNB Business Sentiment indicator will be released at 1400GMT.
At 1415GMT Bundesbank Board member Andreas Dombret speech at the 21th
academic colloquium of the institute for Banking and Financial History, in
Frankfurt.
At 1630GMT SNB Board member Thomas Jordan speaks at the university Basel
WWZ, in Basel.
Rounding off the day at 1815GMT is a speech from ECB Executive Board member
Benoit Coeure who will deliver introductory remarks at a conference organised by
Conservatoire national des arts et metiers (CNAM), in Paris.
