MNI Eurozone Deep Dive: 2024 Outlook

EUROZONE ISSUANCE
  • We look ahead through 2024 EGB issuance in our flagship Eurozone issuance publication, preview Q1 in detail and include country-by-country overviews, calendars and schedules of redemptions and coupons.
  • We look ahead through 2024 EGB issuance and expect E1.44trn of total gross issuance this year, higher than in the pandemic but broadly in line with 2023.
  • However, redemptions in 2023 are expected to be around 5% higher than in 2023, while coupon payments are broadly the same.
  • This leaves net flows for 2024 at E351bln - similar to the E358bln of 2023 and notably higher than the E277bln of 2022 (but down significantly from 2021's record E555bln).
  • We preview Q1 in more detail and look for additional syndications from Austria, Belgium, the ESM, possibly the EFSF, the EU (3 scheduled), Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands (DDA) and Spain (on top of the syndications we have already seen in the first couple of weeks of the year).
  • The document also includes summaries of country-by-country issuance overviews, schedules of bonds maturing and coupon / redemption payments as well as calendars for bond / bill issuance.
