MNI POLICY: China to Boost Trade after Strong H1: Off’l

MNI (Sydney)

China will seek to boost exports by improving port logistics, supporting free-trade zones and E-commerce and improving rail connections with European markets, Ni Yuefeng, the head of the General Administration of Customs told the official People's Daily.

China's trade sector continued to grow in July after registering year on year gains in June, and has performed better than the market expected, Ni said.

China obtained an 0.1% gain in global market share in exports in the first four months, with cross-border E-commerce gaining 6.7%, said Ni. The number of trains connecting China to Europe increased 36% in the first half.

China will also boost trade through making the southern Hainan Island a tariff-free port, including duty-free purchases for domestic visitors, Ni said. It will further the use of bonded zones located throughout the country to drive imports and exports, he said.
