Most Want Gov't To Chase EU Funds Even If It Meant Parting Ways With Junior Coalition Partner

  • Nearly two thirds of voters in a Rzeczpospolita/IBRiS survey said that unblocking EU funds earmarked for Poland is more important than the fate of the ruling coalition. The supporters of the ruling Law and Justice Party are almost equally divided into those who would like to see EU funds unblocked even at the cost of Law and Justice ditching its junior partner Solidarna Polska, those against such a scenario and those who are undecided. Law and Justice leader Kaczynski told Radio Wroclaw yesterday that the Prime Minister's stance stressing the need to reach compromise with Brussels "lacks alternative."
  • Poland will receive PLN1.5bn from the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme, Regional Policy Minister Puda said Monday. The funds will be used to finance innovations and accelerating the growth of medium-sized cities.
  • Onet reports that former Prime Minister Beata Szydlo is plottning to become Law and Justice's candidate in the 2025 presidential election.
