NATGAS: German Industrial Gas Demand Falls Year on Year in August

German industrial gas demand dipped below last year’s level in August amid deteriorating sentiment indicators and weak global demand, according to ICIS.

  • The fall is counter to most months this year showing German industry demand greater than in the same month last year.
  • Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action said last week that “industrial activity is likely to remain subdued in the coming months” and "a noticeable recovery in the export-oriented industry in Germany is not to be expected in the short term."
  • Chemicals industry trade group VCI said “the mood in our industry has noticeably cooled again”.
