Henry Hub is continuing its recovery seen yesterday as the market assesses the impact of Hurricane Francine in the US Gulf.

  • US Natgas OCT 24 up 3% at 2.3$/mmbtu
  • US Natgas MAR 25 up 0.5% at 2.92$/mmbtu
  • Hurricane Francine is due to make landfall today in Louisiana with Cameron LNG, Calcasieu Pass LNG and the Driftwood LNG development along the projected path. Freeport LNG said it had begun storm preparations at its Texas plant without providing details. About 26% of natural gas output in the Gulf of Mexico was offline due to the hurricane, BSEE said Sep. 11.
  • Total US LNG export terminal feedgas flows are today down to 11.7bcf/d, according to Bloomberg driven primarily by a drop in supply to Cameron and Calcasieu Pass ahead of the arrival of the hurricane.
  • Domestic natural gas demand edged up again to 71.9bcf/d today compared to the previous five-year seasonal average of around 68bcf/d.
  • Above normal temperatures are still expected to dominate over much of the US in the coming two weeks.
  • US domestic natural gas production was down to 100.0bcf/d yesterday, according to Bloomberg, compared to an average of 101.6bcf/d so far in September.
  • Reuters estimates that US natural gas storage saw a below-average build of 49 bcf last week.
